Results round up and some big games to come

MEN's 1s
Goals by Scott Harper and Rory McCann secured a 2-1 win against Granite City Wanderers yesterday to book a club day out to the Glasgow Green National Hockey Centre. There they will play Stepps who were 2-1 victors over Watsonians in the other semi final.

So our Men's 1s now have two big matches coming up as they are in a plate final, and still in the hunt for the NL2 championship which would give them automatic promotion back up to NL1. It could go all the way to the last league match of the season vs league leaders Watsonians.

Dates for your diary:
Saturday 28 April v Watsonians at 3.30pm, Countesswells (possibly the league decider)
Saturday 05 May v Stepps at 2.00pm, Glasgow Green National Hockey Centre

MEN's 2s - ND1
Grammar FPs 2s 1 - Gordonians 2s 6
( scorers: Alan Clark 3, Matt Humphreys, and Tom Hill)
This result takes the 2s to within one point of ND1 leaders, Gordonians 3s, having played the same number of games. The North District Men's Champions will be one of our two teams after they have played their five remaining fixtures including against each other twice.

MEN's 4s - ND2
Gordonians 4s 3 - Granite City Wanderers 4s 2
(scorers: Mike Rennie, Chris Graham, and Rob Jansen)
This is another tight title race between Aberdeen 1s and our 4s who have a 3 point lead but have played two games more. These sides meet at Countesswells next Sunday 22 April at 11am in what should be an exciting match.

LADIES 1s - NL2
Glasgow University Ladies 1 - Merlins Gordonians Ladies 0
The league leaders prevailed in a tight match so Glasgow now have a 3 point lead over our Ladies and a game in hand. Our Ladies 1s are still very much in a play off position however and play their last match v Erskine Stewart Melville FPs Ladies on Sat 28 April at Countesswells 1.30pm.

YOUTH INTERNATIONALS
Last week saw a 4th boy from Gordonians, Matthew Davidson, called up to receive his first well deserved caps for Scotland. This was for a 3 match series played against Poland in Glasgow at Clydesdale's ground. Scotland U18 Boys are in the B Division of the European U18s so Poland from the A Division gave them tougher opposition than Wales the previous week. Matthew played in the 2nd and 3rd matches. Goalie Jack Rathbone played in the 1st and 3rd matches, and also playing were Sam Hill and Chris Moon. This is a photo of the four Gordonians provided by Mike Hill. I was able to join the parents of our four boys at the 2nd match and have posted the action photos I took in the U18 International album within our club website.
