An big home win for the men's 1st team in the last 32 round of the Scottish Cup. Match report by Phil Moon.

On a unusally warm day at Countesswells, the Pelicans got their Scottish Cup campaign off to the perfect start, beating Greenock 15-1.
Gordonians were out of the traps fast, pressurising the Greenock defence with an intensity and desire that has, perhaps, been lacking in recent games. This bout of pressure was aptly rewarded with a goal. Will Serle was in the right place at the right time to fire home a rebound from a short corner.
Gordonians developed a firm foothold in the game, and more goals seemed to be inevitable. Gordonians were also playing the right kind of hockey, shifting the ball from side to side, and not trying to force the ball forward unnecessarily. The midfield trio of Adam Walker, Ian Livingstone and Robbie Shepherdson were dictating the game, while Rory McCann and Will Serle were constant goal threats in the forward line. This play was rewarded with several more goals, taking the scoreline to 5-0.
However, a momentary lapse in concentration afforded the visitors a chance on goal, which they took very well. Sam was left stranded as the ball looped over him and into the goal.
This was a bit of a wake-up call for the home team. Gordonians suitably responded with three more goals to leave the half-time score at 8-1.

Refreshed by the break, Gordonians picked up where they left off, quickly adding to their already unassailable lead. Gordonians, perhaps, took their foot off the gas in the second half, but a good level of hockey was maintained throughout.
Furthermore, Gordonians were able to maintain their discipline which, in previous games, has been a slight problem. No cards were received as Gordonians comfortably saw out the game, keeping half an eye on the following day’s game against Western Wildcats.
Will Serle rounded the scoring off with a penalty stroke, completing a great performance against, with the greatest respect, lesser opposition. Gordonians were a division above the visitors, with the final scoreline reading 15-1. Nevertheless, this match, and in particular the way that Gordonians played for the duration of the match, was ideal preparation for the league clash with Western Wildcats the following day.
Scorers: Ally Dougall x1; Ian Livingston x1; Rory McCann x3; Robbie Shepherdson x1; Adam Walker x2; Mike McKay x2; Stuart Allan x1; Andrew Webb x2 and; Will Serle x3
