New season and new players before the first home game of the 2015/16 National League 1 season.

The 2015/16 National League 1 season kicks off this weekend with the men's 1st team taking on Edinburgh University at Countesswells (1pm PB). This promises to be a close game and a tough start to the season with the student side only finishing a place below AAM Gordonains last season and beating us 1-0 in the semi final of the Scottish Cup. The new look men's 1st team have been training hard during pre-season and will be looking to hit the ground running with a win in the first home game of the new league campaign.

The summer break saw a few departures from the 1st team. Czech internationals Martin Babicky and Reinhard Nicklas returned back to Prague. Other more local departures for the squad saw Andy Todd and Craig Falconer leave to go back to their old clubs, Tim Davidson moved down to the 2nd team and Matt Connor left for work in London. With a large number of changes to the squad more summer recruitment was essential to maintain last years strong league postion should we want to make the play-offs again this year!!!

New players coming into the first team squad are Robbie Shepherdson who joins from a strong hockey program at Loughborough University and Rory McCann who comes in from fellow national league competitors Clydesdale. Three players have moved into the 1st team squad from further down the club, William Serle, Scott Munro and Phill Moon make the step up from a strong 2nd team group who won the league last year.

The 1st team captained by Ian Livingston and Ian Coffey, players and coaching staff are very much looking forward to the start of the new season, and hope to secure 3 points before entertaining 2014/15 league winners Kelburne on Saturday 19th September.
