Around 60 club members enjoyed our annual dinner at The Carmelite Hotel, which was a new venue for us. An excellent meal was enjoyed whilst chatting and viewing on the big screen a slideshow of the season’s photos and videos.
The programme for the night included a welcome from Alasdair Samways on behalf of our Social Committee, a fundraising Heads & Tails, the introduction by Men’s President Peter Fraser of our speaker and club legend Stuart Scorgie mentioning Scorge’s exploits in Europe with the club as our goalkeeper in Barcelona saving penalties to win the bronze medal match, and as our coach in the tournaments in Poznan and Rome. Scorge then entertained us with stories of his playing days, of club characters past and present, and of the hockey rules back in the day. This included a demonstration of the 1970s short corner hand stop! He concluded by saying what a great club this is to be a part of, and he encouraged everyone to give back to the club in whatever way they can whether it is to play down through the teams to help the development of our younger players, help out at our youth coaching, raise funds for the club, or arrange social events.
